Whether you prefer them arched and feathered or straight and bold, eyebrows are feasibly the most paramount of your facial features. If you’re not satisfied with the ones you currently have, there are several ways to rejuvenate them. Brow gel and liners have been used for centuries, but within the past decade a modern method has made it easier to get that desired look. Tattooing or “permanent makeup” has become extremely popular in the past few years, but what many people don’t know is that there is actually more than one way to apply permanent makeup.
A popular new trend called “microblading” has everyone talking. But is it the best method for you? Read further to find out more about this latest craze and a second option which produces just as beautiful, if not better results.
The microblading method utilizes a hand tool that “taps” pigment into the skin. This small hand instrument looks similar to an exacto knife handle with needles at the tip. In this technique very fine needles are pulled through the skin resulting in a extremely realistic looking hair stroke. You may have heard this style referred to as “Softap”. Softap, however, is a trade name from the company that produces these hand tools.
The drawback of microblading is that it can be a slow process, especially in the hands of a beginning technician. It takes experience and skill to build up speed and accuracy, and make the process less stressful on the patient. Because of these reasons, it is EXTREMELY important that only artists who specialize in the hand method of permanent makeup application administer the microblading technique.
Digital Rotary Machines
An alternative to the hand tool method is a method that utilizes a digital rotary machine. This state of the art machine is professional looking, quiet, and the equipment is easy to handle. The needles come in a cartridge that is pre-sterilized, so there is no need for an autoclave. These needles hit the skin approximately 1800 times per minute, so procedures are quicker and more accurate. In addition, because the machine is quiet, patients are less on edge during the procedure. The effect of this quality, “top of the line” digital rotary machine is a beautiful, natural eyebrow look that mimics the growth of real hair.
Which is Right for You?
Monica of Makeup by Monica is trained in both the microblading and digital rotary machine methods and can do either at a client’s request. While the microblading method is “trending,” the digital rotary machine can give just as good, if not better results, and is also safer and more effective. If you are still unsure and would like to talk more about either method, please call me at the number below for a personal phone consultation. I can answer any questions you may have as well as provide proof of my training. As with any cosmetic procedure, make certain your technician has the proper license. Touch-ups may be required with either type of application.
